Feedback from international jury panel about Nano RAY-T technology - anode materials for LI-ion batteries

  • Very interesting and innovative technology.
  • Electrocode production for battery, very innovative ideas using different nanomaterial to produce electrode, producing batteries with extra capacity and less waste. The IP is not protected by law but protected technologies know how. The product is still in development, a industrial prototype is not yet complete, so it takes a while to commercialize. Again a very strong complement for batteries market, hence very strong demand is expected. The technology would expected to be very popular in capital intensive regions such as North America and APAC.
  • The energy storage market is growing fast and there will be a tough race to establish market positions.
  • Highly competitive & fast-developing technology area. The application and business case is a bit confused and lacks detail. Customer base, product and routes to market are not clearly identified.
  • Good idea. Battery technology is a competitive field. Carbon nanotubes have good potential but for some reason, commercial market uptake has been a challenge.
  • Great value potential, but this needs to be proven with a customer to validate the performance improvement claims. Strong technical team, and great entrepreneurial experience. You biggest challenges to get first technology embedded with a customer battery / hardware.
  • Great innovation helping prolonging the battery capacity. The innovation is still in its early stages, so it still needs technical and market validations. Currently the battery capacity improvements are estimates and in order to convince battery manufacturers of the novel innovation, a technical validation is needed. The competition in the field is fierce as teams around the world are working on novel battery innovations to increase capacity. From sustainable competitive advantage point-of-view, IP protection would be an important milestone. The team is somewhat limited at the moment, and has somewhat overlapping competences. The team indicates that they would like to recruit a salesperson to the team - usually the founders are the best salespeople in any early-stage startup, so don't be afraid to tackle sales challenges on your own (sales is not ""rocket science"" afterall). If the team is able to get the needed validations for the innovation, then the market potential for the ""winnig battery capacity increase innovation"" is huge - so I see this truly as a high-risk/high-reward startup!
